Six Individuals Detained Following 12 Million Euro Armed Raid on Gold Refining Lab in the French Republic

Six armed perpetrators equipped with high-powered firearms detonated charges to breach the security of a gold refining laboratory located in the city of Lyon, slightly injuring five employees during what appears to be the most recent prominent daytime heist to hit the country.

The audacious robbery took place on the afternoon of Thursday, with police forces quickly arresting the suspected perpetrators and securing the stolen items estimated to be worth €12 million (£10.5 million), as stated by authorities.

Five staff members of the precious metals facility sustained minor injuries from the blast, and three of them were taken to a medical facility for evaluation, officials confirmed. A total of twenty-eight staff were inside the facility when the thieves struck.

Those arrested, believed to be seasoned offenders, were detained shortly after the incident in the adjacent municipality of the town of Vénissieux, authorities revealed.

A woman involved who participated in the raid was taken into custody as well, according to law enforcement.

“Six people who used detonations in an assault targeting a metals processing plant in the Lyon area were apprehended red-handed,” France's security official stated online, praising officers for their “quick action, authority and management”.

High-caliber firearms, handguns and detonation devices were recovered as well.

The raid happened as law enforcement in France on that Thursday detained five further people, among them a key figure, in connection with this month's brazen theft at the Louvre.

Numerous detectives have been pursuing four perpetrators who utilized a lorry featuring an elevating platform and cutting tools to break into an upper-level exhibition space at the renowned museum on October 19th, escaping with precious items estimated to be worth €88M.

In a different significant robbery, thieves last month forced their way into the Parisian museum of natural history, making off with gold samples worth over $1 million. A young Chinese female was arrested earlier this month in Barcelona, Spain in relation to the burglary, according to legal authorities.

This series of robberies has generated apprehension in France regarding inadequate security measures at museums and other institutions containing precious artifacts.
