President Trump Calls Relatives of Attacked National Guard Personnel to the Presidential Residence

Former President Donald Trump announced on the weekend that he has invited the loved ones of a National Guard member killed last week to visit the executive mansion.

He noted that he spoke to her parents and they were “heartbroken”.

Details on the Tragic Incident

US army specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a shooting on Wednesday in DC.

Her colleague, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in grave state.

Vigils across West Virginia have occurred in their honor.

White House Offer

The president said he’s proposed a White House visit for the families of both soldiers of the state Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a difficult moment, come to the White House. We’re going to recognize Sarah,” the president told reporters. “And in the same way with Andrew, recover or not.”

Public Support

Mourners came together over the past few days at a local school in the state to pay respects to Sarah.

Both the soldiers had been working with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s national effort to support policing efforts in Washington DC.

Remembering Sarah Beckstrom

“Sarah was the kind of student that teachers desired. She behaved with quiet strength, a warm expression and a positive energy that lifted people around her,” Hankins, the leader of her previous school, told the media. “She was sweet, compassionate and always willing to assist people.”

Memorial plans for Sarah are still being arranged.

Legal Steps and Government Revisions

Authorities have charged a 29-year-old Afghan national with one count of homicide and two counts of attempted murder while armed.

The tragedy led the government to halt asylum processing and cease providing visas to holders of Afghan passports.

Condition of Andrew Wolfe

The airman, a resident of Martinsburg, began his service in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of his local high school, per the news agency.

He remains under medical supervision and is “battling to survive”, the state’s leader the governor stated on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

The state’s top lawyer Bondi stated on a news show that she also intended to visit Wolfe’s family.

Impact of Sarah Beckstrom

Sarah, from Summersville, completed her education from her high school in June 2023 and joined the military shortly after, working as a MP with excellence, per the state guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she absolutely had courage,” the governor informed the audience at the vigil. “Though her time lasted far too short, she has created a legacy that’s going to last forever.”
