New information has come to light about the untimely demises of renowned filmmaker Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were found at their residence residence on Sunday.

The Alarm

According to a report quoting a family associate, a therapist arriving for an appointment was the first to notice something was wrong after being unable to gain access the house. The practitioner then got in touch with the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives nearby.

After gaining access to the residence, Romy found her father's body. Accounts indicate she then left the home distraught, not realizing at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. Another individual who had gone with her then dialed 911. Following this, paramedics found Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Criminal Proceedings

Authorities have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of murder in the first degree, including the charge related to a weapon, said to be a knife. He is currently being held and is ineligible for bail.

Disputed Reports

The confidential informant questioned several initial details. The source indicated that while Romy Reiner told emergency responders that her brother Nick resided in a guesthouse on the estate, she did not name him as a potential suspect at that juncture.

Additionally disputed published claims that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly "concerned" about Nick's behavior in the preceding period. The source claimed the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."

This correction also extends to descriptions of alleged "unstable" behavior by Nick at a party held by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the discovery. While the source said they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "scolded" his son at the party, they said that reports of a "blow-up" between the two were untrue.

Ongoing Inquiry Details

As stated by law enforcement officials, the coroner had still not confirmed at that point whether the Reiners died on Saturday evening or on Sunday. Preliminary media reports noted the state of their bodies suggested they had been dead for some hours.

Nick Reiner was apprehended at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, some 15 miles from the family home. He was due to have a hearing on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, stated his client had not been medically cleared and would not be present until no sooner than Wednesday.
