Arne Slot Maintains He Is Safe and Retains Liverpool's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it was expected for concerns to be asked about his future after another heavy loss against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their 9th defeat in twelve matches, representing the team's poorest run since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league champions on a punishing evening at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I've received a lot of backing from above,” the coach stated.

“It would be nice to change things and get a victory obviously but if you are working as a coach and not doing well then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I am OK with my position. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we turned it around.”

Discussions with The Board

When asked to provide details on his discussions with the club's leadership, Slot said:

“We talk a lot. They are helpful to the team and to me and those talks happen but they don’t call me all the time each day to say they trust me.”

He mentioned, “During our regular exchanges I sense the belief. But I haven’t spoken to them since this match yet so we'll see.”

Recurring Failings and Player Response

Slot highlighted familiar weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their European loss, specifically wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the answers. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to all,” Jones said.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don't need to wait to reflect. I’m past getting mad inside. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I play for the club I love. I support them, and I've watched Liverpool since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Liverpool team experiencing a period such as this with outcomes this poor.”

Jones finished, “However we continue to wear the crest on our chest. And as long as that badge is gone, we'll continue to compete.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad back to where it needs to be, prove once more what this club is about and why it's known as the greatest side in the planet.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
